WHAT WE DO

OTRO DISEÑO – DESIGN FROM THE SOUTH is a Dutch-Mexican initiative that promotes the work of designers from Latin America and other southern countries by providing opportunities to showcase their work in the international market and making it known and accessible to the public.

Otro Diseño explores the richness and diversity of design trough the world and promotes the creation, development and commercialization of products and projects that have high quality standards in design, function and meaning. From architectonic and graphic design to furniture, fashion and jewellery, we encourage design with a story and an objective; design that is original and inventive, resourceful and refined: the result of a mixture of people, ideas and cultures.

As a platform and network that stimulates the exchange of ideas and expertise between designers, manufacturers and consumers, Otro Diseño aims to improve the quality of life through design and to bring it closer to a public that is interested in experiencing, buying or commissioning design.

Otro Diseño has a special interest to promote the work of designers that take social, environmental and ethical issues into account when creating, advertising and selling their products.

WHY WE DO IT

At Otro Diseño, we view design as a tool to improve prosperity and well-being of society in a process that considers designers, manufacturers, environment and the users, as equal parts of an equation.

For many southern designers, this distinctive approach to design is vital in their work..

The mission of Otro Diseño is to stimulate the production of good design in Latin America and other southern countries and its promotion in the international design market, helping to create opportunity for the development and growth of microeconomics in those countries and providing the European public with the means for understanding and experiencing a different kind of design: fresh ideas turned into high-quality, attractive, well-developed and useful products.
